The UK officially announced the transfer of depleted uranium armor piercing rounds to Ukraine, Minister of State for Defence Annabell Goldie said during the government hour in the British Parliament on March 20.
When asked by Lord Hylton whether the United Kingdom was supplying depleted uranium armor piercing rounds to Ukraine, Baroness Goldie answered in the affirmative.
“Alongside our granting of a squadron of Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine, we will be providing ammunition including armour piercing rounds which contain depleted uranium. Such rounds are highly effective in defeating modern tanks and armoured vehicles,” Goldie said in a statement published on the British parliament’s website.
