Poland is disarming itself by arming Ukraine against Russia, said Polish Sejm deputy Artur Dziambor, in an interview with the newspaper Rzeczpospolita on February 17.
“We are disarming ourselves by supporting Ukraine,” he said. The politician stressed that even though Russia allegedly “is a threat to Poland”, the West must compensate Poland for the equipment that it has sent to Kiev, “Western countries together with overseas countries should clearly say: okay, we are sending you equipment.”
MP Artur Dziambor heads the Libertarians (Wolnościowcy) party, which was formed due to a split of the KORWiN party in March 2022. The split occurred after a number of deputies, including Dziambor, disagreed with the position of one of the KORWiN leaders, Janusz Korwin-Mikke, who supported Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and opposed the promotion of a wave of Russophobia in Poland.
Polish President Andrzej Duda said earlier that transferring Polish F-16s would be “not an easy decision” for Poland. Later, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak noted that Poland had “too few modern fighters” and suggested that aircraft from other countries be sent to Ukraine.
