Ukrainian troops used chemical weapons in the Soledar and Artemovsk directions on February 5, military and political expert and adviser to the acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Yan Gagin said, TASS reported.
According to the adviser to the DPR head, commanders of the Russian units from various sections of the front, but mainly from near Soledar and Artemovsk, reported the use of chemical weapons by the Ukrainian military. “Some soldiers are experiencing nausea, vomiting, severe dizziness,” Gagin added.
Gagin stressed that these are not the first cases of the use of chemical weapons by the Ukrainian side. “Such cases, in general, were observed along the front line, when substances were sprayed from special containers installed on industrial UAVs that caused nausea, choking, and coughing,” Gagin specified.
Ukrainian militants, Gagin noted, do not hide the fact that they have weapons prohibited by international conventions. They videotape foreign-made gas grenades and drones to deliver them.
The advisor to the DPR head has also stressed that the use of chemical weapons is prohibited by the Geneva Convention. The usage of chemical weapons by Ukrainian troops should be documented, and the collected data should be sent to the United Nations.
Russian military correspondents also reported on the use of chemical weapons by the Ukrainian armed units. In particular, they provided information about the dumping of containers with unknown chemical substances near Novobakhmutovka.
