The French and German armies will hold joint exercises in Lithuania and Romania. This is stated in the declaration adopted on January 22 following the meeting of the Franco-German Council of Ministers in Paris.
“To support our allies in the east, our armies will organize joint Franco-German brigade exercises in Lithuania and Romania,” the statement reads.
The statement adds that France and Germany will contribute to strengthening the defense capabilities of Europe and NATO. It stresses that both countries are “satisfied with the development of the future SCAF combat aircraft program.”
Earlier French President Emmanuel Macron called on Germany and France to support the European Union together and turn it into an independent geopolitical entity, including in the space sphere, defense and diplomacy.
On January 22, 1963 an agreement on friendship between France and Germany was signed in Paris between the two countries.
