Russia will not consider claims of the European Jewish Congress in connection with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s comparison of US policy to the actions of Adolf Hitler, the Russian Foreign Ministry said, Lenta.ru informed January 19.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the opinion of the Congress, which “for years has ignored the catastrophic level of anti-Semitism in Ukraine,” is of no interest. The organization did not notice any SS symbols, swastikas or glorification of Nazi collaborators in Ukraine, and thus discredited itself on this issue.
On January 18, Lavrov said that the US formed an anti-Russian coalition out of NATO and the EU, just as Napoleon and Hitler did in Europe, and sought to finally solve the “Russian question.”
The European Jewish Congress said its representatives were “shocked” by the “shameful” comparison. According to them, Lavrov compared the actions of “democratic” countries to the murder of six million Jews.
