The Soviet Union showed the world an alternative, unique way of development of society by proclaiming the ascension of humans. Elena Chichina, senior lecturer at the Department of the Theory of Culture, Ethics and Aesthetics of the Institute of Philosophy and Socio-Political Sciences of the Southern Federal University, said this in an interview with Rossa Primavera News Agency on December 30.
According to the expert, the USSR became a state of a new type that was able to unite different peoples on the basis of universal humanistic values. At the same time, the Soviet society did not destroy the traditions of its peoples, preserving their uniqueness.
But most importantly, the Soviet Union showed the world that there was an alternative way to build a good society, Chichina said. According to her, the orientation toward the constant ascension of humans became the axis of Soviet culture, and it was expressed in the creation of conditions for the realization of each person’s abilities.
“In education and culture, the sphere of activity I am engaged in, the USSR carried out a genuine cultural revolution – it eliminated illiteracy and, abandoning the ideas of Proletkult [experimental Soviet artistic institution that arose in conjunction with the Russian Revolution of 1917], gradually reoriented education towards an almost classical form of education, turning to classical Russian and foreign literature, emphasized the promotion of classical music, choreography, theater, painting,” Chichina said.
Thus, according to the Expert, the Soviet Union brought up an educated person and guided him toward spiritual growth.
