Putin signs a decree banning oil sales to countries using price cap

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree banning selling Russian oil to countries using a price cap imposed by the European Union on December 27. It was made public on the website of the presidential administration.

“The ban on the supply of Russian oil, established by this decree, shall apply from the date of entry into force of this decree,” the text of the made public decree reads. At the same time, the decree shall enter into force on February 1, 2023, and will be valid until July 1, 2023.

The date of the petroleum products supply ban shall be defined by the decree to the Government of the Russian Federation.
