The Ukrainian conflict allowed the United States to take a more favorable position with respect to the EU, the president of the Movement of the Enterprises of France Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux said on December 8 on the air of RMC radio station.

According to him, the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine resulted in a sharp increase in fuel and energy prices. Against this backdrop, US businesses have benefited from US stability.

“We are seeing a decline in the rate of production. For some businesses, the cost of production has increased four to six times,” Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux explained. According to him, businesses can move to Asia or the USA, where the price of energy is more affordable.

The representative of the French employers pointed out that the slogan of the previous US president, “America first,” is still relevant. “It is necessary that Europe also follows the ‘Europe first’ principle,” concluded the president of the  employer federation.

Earlier, the USA adopted the Inflation Reduction Act, which introduces protectionist measures for local producers. The measure provoked harsh criticism in Europe and accusations of undermining the transatlantic partnership.
