The Ukrainian lesson for Russia is seen in the ill-considered marginalization of the fundamental components of Russia’s integrity in the deadly clash with its enemies, said philosopher, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on November 25 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio station.
The Ukrainian lesson is that since 1991 Russia strove to be like the West, and it ignored the Russian idea of integrity, Kurginyan said.
“We began to believe that no one would eat us, and we moved everything that was supposed to defend us from the center to the periphery,” the philosopher added.
Russia moved its army, military concepts, social upbringing, and many other things from the center to the periphery, the expert explained.
“The first thing that we marginalized was certainly the army. It was not just devalued, we began to position it inside our society not as the sun with planets orbiting around it, but as a kind of a very interesting asteroid,” the analyst stressed.
Further, optimization of the military and strategic concepts followed, which ruled out any major conventional war without nuclear weapons, the political scientist stressed. The young reformers of the army rejected arms coordination and many other key points.
“All this was exacerbated by money grubbing etc., and the army was moved to a place quite different from where it should be. So, all its current drawbacks and errors, all its deformations stem from its staying there for thirty years,” Kurginyan
However, the same disaster affected the whole society. He pointed out a remarkable fact that on the Novy Arbat street in Moscow, the most of the signs are not in Russian.
“Thus, we were building this life differently over thirty years, and now we have to change it, to avoid the terrible word ‘perestroika.’ We cannot change just one component, we have to change it strategically, forever, for fifty years or more,” the analyst concluded.
He added that we should change it cautiously in order to avoid collapsing the system, carefully and confidently at the same time.
