Kurgnyan: The Russian army had stopped preparing for large conflicts

25.10.2022, Moscow.

The Russian army was not prepared to the kind of conflict that is taking place now, as the era of major conventional wars was believed to be over, said philosopher, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on October 23 on the Russia One channel.

“Our army did not anticipate the conflict that is taking place now,” Kurginyan said. He told how he attended a high-level meeting where one of the main advisors of the ex-minister of defense Anatoly Serdyukov alleged that Russia would not face any major conventional war. According to the advisor, Russia would have either an immediate nuclear war or minor conflicts in hotspots.

“To this end, Serdyukov etc. did what they needed. We began lacking an idea of a potential conventional war, with arms coordination, all the relevant repositionings etc.,” the political scientist listed. He added that in military institutes, arms coordination began to transform into semi-optional disciplines.

“All that became out of the agenda. Because there can be either a nuclear or a minor war,” the analyst explained. According to Kurginyan, the British army that suppressed the Boers in South Africa could afford talking about an expeditionary force, in contrast to Russia having common border with the potential adversary.

“This entire concept has turned out to be totally false, but Serdyukov was a long time ago. But all this kept approaching our border continuously,” Kurginyan stressed.

“’Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics, Great Russia has welded forever to stand’ – this is the Russian core of this entire system, and this is what is to be destroyed, there is no room for it in the existing mega-trends. There is no such country on the prospective maps for 2040. There is none at all. This took place a long time ago, and we should have been preparing for that,” he added.

In order to win a major conventional war against the West in Ukraine, we must quickly learn arms coordination, and we should promote the most motivated and efficient soldiers and commanders and thus transform Russia from a consumerist country into a country that would be capable of winning in a war of extermination, Kurginyan indicated.
