The son of the US President Joe Biden, businessman Hunter Biden provided services to a Pentagon contractor who handled biological projects in Ukraine. That’s according to emails from Biden Jr. published Friday night on the website of Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.

According to the newspaper, Hunter Biden helped the medical company Metabiota, which collaborated with the US Defense Department contractor Black & Veatch on research on deadly pathogens, secure a multi-million dollar contract with the US government. In addition, he put Metabiota representatives in touch with the management of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings for a “scientific project” involving high-level biodefense laboratories in Ukraine.

The disclosed emails also show that a top Metabiota executive asked Hunter Biden in 2014 how the company could promote cultural and economic independence from Russia, an unusual goal for a biotech firm, according to the Daily Mail. As the publication notes, Biden Jr. was instrumental in allowing Metabiota to conduct pathogen research just a few kilometers from the Russian border.

And it was Black & Veatch, whose services were provided by Metabiota, that built a number of biolaboratories in Ukraine to study infectious agents or toxins that can be airborne and cause potentially deadly infections, the newspaper added. According to the newspaper, the son of the current US president invested $500,000 in Metabiota through the Rosemont Seneca Thornton controlled fund.
