About 50 percent of Mariupol has now been liberated from Ukrainian fighters and nationalists, representatives of the Ministry of Information of the Donetsk People’s Republic announced in a media release on March 22.
It is also reported that 619 people, 134 of them children, were evacuated from the city during the day. In total, over four thousand people were evacuated from Mariupol to the village of Bezymyonnoye between March 5 and March 22.
Earlier, it became known that the Ukrainian authorities had rejected Russia’s offer to voluntarily surrender Mariupol. Neo-Nazis in the encircled city were ordered to leave under the guise of civilians, according to Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, Director of Russia’s National Defense Management Center.
