Crimea should never have been allowed to remain part of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 18 at a concert celebrating Crimea’s reunification with Russia.
“The people of Crimea did the right thing by putting a hard barrier in the way of the neo-Nazis,” the Russian president said.
Given the current state of affairs in Ukraine and the neo-Nazi genocide against civilians, the Russian president stressed the importance of Crimea’s return to Russia eight years ago.
“Russia did much to raise Crimea and Sevastopol, they had to be pulled out of their humiliating state as part of Ukraine,” Putin added.
On March 18, 2014, the signing of the treaty on the accession of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol to Russia took place.
