On March 17, the flag of the Lugansk People’s Republic began flying over the city administration building. Meter by meter, house by house, Donbass troops moved deeper into the city.
The Lugansk People’s Republic armed forces had to liberate house after house. Reports that Ukrainian militants are kicking civilians out of the first floors of houses and setting up their loopholes there turned out to be terribly true.
For example, a resident of the liberated city told a Rossa Primavera News Agency that Ukrainian armed units occupied the first three floors of buildings, and on the roof there were fire spotters who gave signals toward Lisichansk. After their signals with a red light, the shelling of residential buildings began, while the Ukrainian militants themselves quickly hid in basements.
Now in Rubizhne, there is no electricity, heating, communications, water, and the storage of food is running out. Local residents help each other as much as they can. Near the fire water tank, young men draw water and help fill it into containers for their fellow countrymen. They boil this water over a fire to use for cooking.
When retreating, Ukrainian militants paint over road signs to disorient LPR troops and prevent their advancement. But the LPR People’s Militia are locals who stood up in 2014 to defend their homeland after the anti-constitutional coup in Kiev, so the liberation army does not need signposts.
