Kurginyan: NATO expansion is Biden’s obsession

17.03.2022, Moscow.

The main topic of US President Joe Biden’s political biography is NATO expansion, said philosopher, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on Right to Know program on the TVC channel on March 16.

“Biden has one motif in his political biography, the expansion of NATO. He has never done anything else in foreign policy,” Kurginyan said. He added that Biden was responsible for the expansion of NATO when he was senator, and now as president.

“Therefore, as soon as Biden came, it became clear that NATO would expand to Ukraine,” the leader of Essence of Time said. However, this entails a question about the goals of Sweden and Finland, which have started talking about joining NATO, the political scientist added.

“Of course, Sweden and Finland will counter Iran in the Arctic,” the expert ironically said.

The NATO military bloc was established on April 4, 1949. Before the collapse of the USSR in 1991, NATO did not include the Eastern European countries. After 1991, most of the Eastern European states joined the North Atlantic Treaty. The rest of the states, including Ukraine and Belarus, signed partnership with NATO.
