Kurginyan explains the Ukrainian public's reaction to special operation

Over the past eight years, a real nazification has taken place in Ukraine, which followed a break with Ukraine’s Russian and Soviet past, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on Right to Know! program on the TVC channel on March 12.

Discussing the question why in some places the Russian army is welcome, but most often it is not, Kurginyan referred to the processes that once happened to the German people. For the crimes of fascism to become possible, the majority of the population had to agree with the Nazi ideology.

“Who turned a blind eye to the crimes committed by the Right Sector (organization banned in Russia) etc.? What is the majority of the population in this context? This is the question. ‘Hitlers come and go, but the German people remain.’ What happened to the German people for things like that to become possible?” the political scientist asked.

According to Kurginyan, a real nazification of the population was taking place in Ukraine after 2014.

“Now we have to deal with a country that was subject to brainwashing over eight years in a way that a Russian citizen can hardly imagine ― what kind of brainwashing and what kind of nazification were taking place,” he said.

Besides, the authorities of the post-Soviet Ukraine preferred to immediately break with both Soviet and Russian past of their country, thus cutting off all the roots of the Ukrainian sovereignty.

On February 24, Russia started a special operation for the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine. This decision was made due to the threat of “a clearing operation” in Donbass as well as Ukraine’s intention to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory and Kiev’s own advanced nuclear projects. Russian army’s major clashes take place with the units of Ukrainian nationalists, which became part of the Ukrainian army after the coup d’etat of 2014.

It is the nationalist units that are responsible for the genocide of the people of Donbass. During the denazification operation, Ukrainian nationalists use Ukrainian civilians as hostages, detaining them in their homes and deploying MLRS weapons in the residential areas of cities.
