Military expert: EU should be concerned about the work of biolaboratories in Ukraine

10.03.2022, Moscow.

The work of US biolaboratories on the territory of Ukraine should alert the European Union, as it directly threatens its security, said Igor Nikulin, a military expert and former member of the Biological Weapons Commission at the UN, Zvezda reports on March 9.

“This news should sober up many Europeans who have stuck their heads in the sand like ostriches,” Nikulin said.

According to him, the US is far across the ocean, and the possible danger will not affect it for long. On the contrary, the neighboring EU will be affected in the first place.

The expert noted that Ukraine is not the only country where the US is conducting dangerous experiments. Washington carries out similar activities in a number of countries lacking political subjects.

“The Americans believe that this is legal. But, it is a violation of the convention, which prohibits the development, stockpiling and storage of pathogens. The US spits upon this convention, which they themselves signed. They have actually withdrawn from it. Now, the international community must force them to sit down at the negotiating table and determine the control measures,” the expert noted.

Nikulin added that an organization similar to OPCW must be created that would monitor the non-proliferation of biological weapons in the world.

Earlier the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that in Ukraine there is a network of about 30 biolaboratories that were functioning within the framework of Pentagon programs. These laboratories studied pathogens of plague, anthrax, brucellosis and other dangerous infections.
