09.03.2022, Moscow.

The Ukrainian army was planning an offensive operation in Donbass against the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics in March. This follows from the original of a secret order seized by the Russian military from Colonel General Nikolay Balan, commander of the National Guard of Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry published the document on March 9.

“These documents confirm the Kiev regime’s hidden preparations for an offensive operation in Donbass in March 2022,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

The document dated January 22 states that it was issued in order to execute the order “of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine No. 39/304/78/1 dated January 19, 2022 in order to build up the capabilities of the grouping of joint forces in the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.”

The document details the plan for the preparation of the battalion tactical group of the fourth operational brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine to carry out special tasks within the Ukrainian army.

The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army since the end of July 2021 is Valery Zaluzhnyy.

Nikolay Balan resigned in January 2022. Yuriy Lebed was appointed as commander of the Ukrainian National Guard.

On the night of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to conduct a special military operation in connection with the aggressive actions of the Ukrainian army in Donbass.
