The British initiative to deprive Russia of its permanent seat in the UN Security Council makes no sense because there is no such mechanism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Al-Jazeera on March 2.
“There is no mechanism,” Lavrov said.
According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, there is no point in trying to explain anything to the representatives of the United Kingdom. “Their utter inadequacy has long been well known to all,” the minister added.
On March 1, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that London would insist on excluding Russia from the UN Security Council in connection with the special operation in Ukraine. How exactly the British authorities are going to do this, the prime minister did not specify.
