Ukrainian punitive forces shot at civilians leaving Volnovakha, the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic wrote on its Telegram channel on March 1.
“Ukrainian nationalists shot civilians in Volnovakha at 10:10 a.m., opening fire on civilians leaving the city with a white flag,” the DPR People’s Militia noted.
On February 19, amid the aggravation of the situation in Donbas, the DPR and LPR authorities asked Russia to recognize their independence. On 21 February, Vladimir Putin announced that he would recognize the sovereignty of the republics.
On February 24, the Russian Federation launched a special operation to demilitarize and denationalize Ukraine. The purpose of the Russian military is to protect the residents of Donbass. The Russian army does not strike Ukrainian civilian objects, only military infrastructure and punishers shelling civilians.
