LPR reports that Ukrainian security forces prepare provocations with ammonia

28.02.2022, Lugansk.

On February 28, Ivan Filiponenko, an official representative of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic, at a briefing, accused the Ukrainian armed forces of mining ammonia depots in the town of Severodonetsk (Lugansk region) under Kiev’s control.

“According to the information we have received, the Ukrainian militants have mined ammonia warehouses in the town of Severodonetsk and are planning to blow them up in the next 24 hours in order to subsequently accuse the LPR People’s Militia of this provocation,” Filiponenko said.

More than a week ago, the situation in Donbass sharply escalated. The Ukrainian army conducts regular massive shelling of People’s Militia positions and towns and villages along the entire front line. The Ukrainian armed forces moved heavy equipment and artillery to the line of contact. On the morning of February 24, Putin announced the start of a special military operation to protect the people of Donbass and demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.

On February 28, the head of a sabotage-recon group of the Aidar punitive battalion (organization banned in Russia) Taras Rodchenko surrendered, along with 110 other Ukrainian servicemen. On February 26, 82 Ukrainian border guards who surrendered from Snake Island were taken to Sevastopol.

One of the Ukrainian soldiers captured by the LPR People’s Militia, a former commander of the anti-tank squad of the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian army, said that his unit had not been informed in time by the command about the appearance of the danger of “falling into encirclement.” In addition, the order to retreat was given by the Ukrainian army’s leadership only at the moment when the unit had no such opportunity. The soldier believes that his commanders “in fact abandoned” him, and that the Ukrainian army’s command used the soldiers “roughly speaking, as cannon fodder.”
