Ukrainian servicemen continue to lay down their arms volunteerly, said Igor Konashenkov, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, on February 28 during a press conference.
“In the past 24 hours, 110 more Ukrainian servicemen have voluntarily laid down their arms,” said Konashenkov.
The number of disabled Ukrainian military infrastructure facilities went up to 1,146, said the Russian Defense Ministry official. It includes 31 Ukrainian Army command headquarters and communication centers; 81 anti-aircraft missile systems such as S-300, Buk M-1 and Osa; as well as 75 radar stations.
The Russian Aerospace Forces hit six columns of armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. 311 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 42 aircraft and helicopters (including those on the ground), 51 multiple rocket launchers, 147 field artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 263 units of special military vehicles were destroyed.
According to Konashenkov, the Luhansk People’s Republic military groupings advanced during the day in the direction of Kremennoe settlement and continued for another three kilometers. Units of the DPR forces advanced for 16 km in a day and captured the village of Zamozhnoye.
On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine after an appeal to help from the leaders of People’s Republics in Donbass. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian army strikes only military facilities, and nothing threatens the civilian population.
As Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized, Russia’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories. Putin noted that having the right to choose their future is important to all peoples living on the Ukrainian territory.
The Russian Defense Ministry emphasized that only officers and military personnel serving under a contract in the positions of privates and sergeants take part in a special military operation on the Russian side.
