27.02.2022, Naypyidaw.

Russia’s actions in Ukraine are right and justified, General Zo Min Tun, Myanmar’s Military Council representative said on February 27 in an interview to the Burmese’s Voice of America (foreign media recognized as a foreign agent in Russia).

According to the general, the military government supported  the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, because it believes that by these actions Russia strengthens “its sovereignty.” In addition, it serves as a proof to other countries that “Russia is a global power.”

Russia has launched a military operation to cleanse Ukraine of radical nationalist forces after the aggravation of the situation in Donbass. On February 17, the situation began to deteriorate, on February 18, the evacuation of children, women and the elderly from Donbass was started. On February 21, the republics asked to recognize their independence from Ukraine, and on February 23 they asked for Russian military support. After the recognition of the republics, the Ukrainian authorities announced their withdrawal from the Budapest Agreement and its readiness to develop nuclear weapons.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, it became clear to the Russian government that this situation would only deteriorate in view of Russian national security, this is why Moscow was forced to launch a military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine.
