The basis of the state is melting in Ukraine; therefore, Kiev needs a confrontation so that the West will join in on its side, President of System Analysis and Forecasting Rostislav Ishchenko said on July 9 on Vesti FM radio.

“When you see that the basis of your state begins to thaw like permafrost in the era of global warming, and now this entire basis will collapse, and in Ukraine it has already started to collapse, you are left with not so many tools to fix the situation. They need confrontation,” Ishchenko said.

He stressed that the Ukrainian authorities are considering the option of military confrontation, moreover, they tried to organize it both in Ukraine and in Belarus. “Another thing is that they failed. You can’t come, declare war on Russia, and then demand support from the West. The provocation must be convincing. It is necessary to have an opportunity to accuse Russia of aggression, and after that to demand help,” the expert said.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine [Ukrainian Parliament] adopted the law On Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine on July 1. According to the new legislation, the Russian people are not indigenous people in Ukraine because they have a historical state outside Ukraine.
