Ukraine will hold Three Swords exercise together with the armies of Poland, Lithuania and the USA

Ukraine will hold its first large-scale land exercises Three Swords 2021 with the participation of servicemen from Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and the United States, the press service of the General Staff of the Ukrainian army wrote on its Facebook page on July 5.

“On July 17-30, 2021, multinational military exercise ‘Three Swords’ with the participation of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade named after Great Hetman Konstanty Ostrogski will take place. The Three Swords 2021 is a multinational exercise that will be held as a command post exercise and a field combat training executed by the brigade,” the message reads.

More than 1,200 servicemen, more than 200 combat vehicles from Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, and the United States will take part in the exercise. It is reported that the exercise will be of defensive nature.

“Exercise Three Swords 2021 will allow participating nations to establish and maintain effective working relationships between partners to better prepare for the complex global security in which they operate,” the General Staff statement reads.

The Three Swords 2021 exercise was initiated during talks between the Polish and Ukrainian chiefs of general staff on August 22-23, 2019. The main purpose is to assess the capabilities of the combined units in operations under the command of the LITPOLUKRBRIG (Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade, a separate three-regiment brigade of the Lublin Triangle countries, which is intended to participate in international peacekeeping and humanitarian operations).
