Sergey Kurginyan: Ukrainian authorities are ready for elections in Donbass only after massacre

09.11.2020, Moscow.

Leonid Kravchuk’s statements about the possibility of elections under Ukrainian law in Donbass imply that the region will face massacres, prisons and repressions, political analyst Sergey Kurginyan, leader of the “Essence of Time” movement, said on November 2 during the program The Evening with Vladimir Soloviev.

On November 2, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the situation in Eastern Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk said that to implement the road map for peace in Donbass, it is necessary to stop the war, transfer control over the border with Donbass to Ukraine, withdraw all illegal armed groups and elect “legitimate authorities” under Ukrainian law.

Assessing Leonid Kravchuk’s statement, Kurginyan drew attention to the fact that he deliberately ignores the details.

There is one point missing in what Kravchuk says. Can I voice what it is? The first point is occupation of the border, withdrawal of illegal formations. The second point is massacres on the territory, prisons and repressions. The third point is the elections to be won by the Banderites. These are true three points,” explained the political scientist.

The expert directed attention to statements by “Ukrainian ideologists, who explain this scheme to Kravchuk every day.

As Sergey Kurginyan notes, the statements of the Ukrainian authorities, relayed through Kravchuk, are completely contrary to the Minsk agreements, but such attempts to circumvent the agreements were easily predictable.

We knew it, that is why we formed the Minsk agreements in a certain way,” Kurginyan said.

The Minsk Agreements imply restoring the control over the border is possible only after constitutional reform in Ukraine, which introduces decentralization of power and gives DPR and LPR special status.
