Residents of northeast Syria left without water as a result of Turkish artillery shelling

23.10.2020, Damascus.

The Turkish army damaged power lines supplying the only water supply station in the Syrian al-Hasakah province with energy during its attack on October 22, a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s source informs.

“As a result of Turkish occupation forces’ attack on al-Hadraoui village in the Abu Rasein district in northern al-Hasakah, electricity was cut off from the Abar Uluk station,” the source said.

The station is the only one that supplies potable water to al-Hasakah city and western Hasakah province. The Turkish-backed militants periodically shut down the station, depriving about a million people of access to potable water.

Turkey and the US-backed Kurdish military units are fighting for control of Syria’s northeast region.
