Russia and Belorussia sign mini-Schengen

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Belorussia Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei signed intergovernmental agreements on mutual visa recognition on June 19 in Minsk.

Belorussian Foreign Ministry called the signed document a mini-Schengen. The agreement allows foreigners visiting Russia and Belorussia to move freely through the territory of the Russian Federation. And vice versa: you can freely enter the territory of Belorussia with a visa obtained to visit Russia.

The document allows to share information between Moscow and Minsk on issued visas and temporary residence permits.

The agreement was prepared in the fall of 2018, but its signing was postponed.
