Kurginyan: Comparisons between the current crisis and the Great Depression are alarming

08.06.2020, Moscow.

Nobody wants to tell truth on how exactly the groups that run the global economy are going to recover from the current economic crisis, said the leader of the Essence of Time movement, analyst and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan on June 5 in his original broadcast The Meaning of the Game released on the movement’s YouTube channel.

According to a US Department of Labor report published on June 4, 42 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits from March 15 to May 30, 2020.

On May 10, when there were more than 30 million unemployment applications, Trump’s advisor Kevin Hassett said in an interview to CBS that this was already the biggest shock to the US job market since World War II. He added that we have seen such unemployment rates only during the Great Depression (1929-1939). However, Kevin Hassett said that there is no need to be afraid, as it can be reversed.

“Now, there are a lot of economic differences between right now and the Great Depression. Here, we understand why the economy is slowing down. And we expect that we can reverse it,” said Hassett. However, the advisor did not explain how exactly they are going to reverse the process.

According to Kurginyan, Hassett as well as many others do not say the main thing: the US recovered for real from the Great Depression not in 1939, but owing to World War II.

So the question arises: is the US going to recover from the current partially artificial economic crisis, which was caused a worldwide halt in industrial production, through a world war on another continent once again?
