Poet and composer, a member of ZVEROBOY band Dmitry Sosov explained the reason for ignoring the fate of Donbass in the work of Russian rock bands on June 3 in an interview with a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s correspondent.

“Many rock bands in no way reflect the theme of Donbass in their work,” said Sosov. Rock musicians in Russia “got carried away with liberalism” and “got absorbed into pacifism” at the expense of love for their homeland and humanism, Sosov explained. The poet expressed his sympathy to his colleagues performing rock music.

“Patriotic topic is not characteristic of the vast majority of Russian rock bands,” explained the ZVEROBOY participant. The rock musician suggested that the reason lies in the secondary nature of rock music genre, as the genre itself came to Russia from abroad. This circumstance “does not allow Russian musicians to show their own creative initiative.”

ZVEROBOY rock group expressed their support for Donbass since the beginning of the civil war in Ukraine in 2014. The musicians explained their actions as a civil and human duty.
