22.05.2020, Damascus.

The U.S. military contingent attempted to prevent the Russian military from delivering humanitarian aid to north-eastern Syria, the Russian Embassy in the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) wrote on May 20 in its microblog on Twitter.

“Despite some obstacles, created by the illegal #US military presence East of #Eufrates, #Russia’s military managed to deliver 170 t of food & med. supplies (20 trucks in total) from #Lattakia to #Kamishli (#Hasakah Governorate) on May 16,” the embassy’s message reads.

The Russian embassy in Syria did not however specify what kind of obstacles the U.S. military created and how the Russian army managed to overcome them.

According to the report of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the U.S. sent to Syria an additional detachment of 200 marines specifically to complicate the Russian military’s activities in the Hasaka province.
