Iran develops new coronavirus express diagnostic system

12.05.2020, Tehran.

Iranian scientists have developed a new test system that can detect the coronavirus infection within half a minute, the Mehr agency reported on May 12.

According to the agency, the test is based on nanotechnologies. In particular, it can detect the coronavirus with a 95% probability within a short time (30 seconds), and it can also be used to test for other viruses.

According to the Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, the Kimia company used nanotechnologies to develop the new diagnostic system, and the diagnostic kit will be certified soon.

In Russia, over 20 diagnostic tests are currently used to identify the coronavirus infection, and all of them have been approved by the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare.

The most commonly used Russian test system was developed by the Vector State Scientific Center for Virology and Biotechnology. The system is supplied to about ten foreign countries.
