One of the US nationals detained in Venezuela revealed during an interrogation on May 6 that the invasion team they were part of planned to take the airport under control in order to bring the president of Venezuela to the USA, RIA Novosti reports.
The US nationals were detained during a failed attempt of a group of militants to invade Venezuela.
A group of militants attempted to invade Venezuela from Colombia using high-speed boats on May 3.
The invasion attempt was rebuffed, some of the attackers were destroyed, and at least two were detained.
Reportedly, the detained attackers were US nationals related to US President Donald Trump’s personal security team.
