Russian and Syrian Staffs: United States launch an information campaign against Syria

22.04.2020, Damascus.

Washington launched an aggressive information campaign against Damascus, accusing it of inability to confront the pandemic in Syria, as written in a joint statement of the interagency coordination Russian and Syrian staffs on April 22.

The statement reads that the UN document, worked out under the U.S. pressure, stipulates the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Rukban refugee camp, but makes not provision for its distribution; the U.S., trying to participate in the delivery and distribution of aid in the camp, pursues vested interests, the statement read.

The joint statement reads that there is a clear U.S. desire to support illegal armed groups under its control by providing assistance to the Rukban camp, thereby delaying the disbandment of the camp.

It is puzzling that the UN’s plan does not stipulates the necessary medical examination of the Rukban inhabitants, which is essential under conditions of the pandemic, the statement reads.

The staffs’ statement also reads that the most appropriate solution of the situation around Rukban camp is its complete disbandment. At the same time, it is noted that Damascus is fully ready for the dismantling of the camp, evacuation of its inhabitants to their places of residence and ensuring decent living conditions.
