Russian elite fails to respond adequately to new challenges – Kurginyan

Russia must be proactive so as not to become a victim of de-globalization, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on March 28 on the Right to Know program on the TVC channel.

According to the political scientist, the Russian elite is failing to meet the global challenges to an adequate extent.

“Do you know what it all looks like? They are sitting in a Bentley saying, ‘Large-caliber machine gun, left sector, fire! Point the cannon, right sector!’ But there is no canon and no machine gun, it is a Bentley, come to your senses!” Kurginyan explained.

He stressed that we should stop pretending that Russia is still “driving” a Soviet armored personnel carrier, because in fact it is sitting in a Bentley trying to fulfill missions intended for an armored personnel carrier.

“If this continues, we will be in the rear of the process, and we will become victims of a moderate or major de-globalization. And it will take place; it is already at the door. All its components are here,” Kurginyan warned.

Continuing the Bentley metaphor, the political scientist said that “an attempt to use this car in the new situation will end up with a severe collision.” He believes that Russia must be proactive, confidently and decisively transforming the society according to the new global situation.

Earlier in the program, Sergey Kurginyan said that the global situation is a process comparable to the transition from Paleolithic to Neolithic. This situation is associated with a gap between technological development and human development, which can result in a major catastrophe.

“There will be more and more people capable of creating something in almost field conditions that can threaten all of humanity,” Kurginyan explained.
