The West blackens the Victory because it fears USSR revival – Demurin

05.02.2020, Moscow.

The historical and political fraud regarding the USSR’s role in World War Two promotes the idea that the Soviet project was a crime. The West and the Russian domestic pro-Western forces are feared that the fair Soviet project can be revived, political observer Mikhail Demurin said at a roundtable discussion in the REGNUM News Agency “Who Rewrites World War Tow History and How” on February 5, a correspondent of the Rossa Primavera News Agency reports.

Demurin recalled that the perestroika activists helped the West in the blackening of the history of the Great Patriotic War as they prepared the destruction of the USSR in the 1980-ies.

“We remember well the attempts to accuse Stalin of a collusion with Hitler and to blame solely on him [Stalin] the hardships of the first one year and half of the war, as well as the strategic military mediocrity and voluntarism at the same time, and to make him responsible for the splitting of Europe after the war, which was actually made by the USA and the UK,” the columnist told REGNUM.

He believes that our domestic pro-Western community provides strong support to the contemporary authors of the anti-Soviet and anti-Russian interpretations of the events of World War Two. According to Demurin, there are many opponents to the Soviet project and anti-communists in Russia whose rhetoric pretends to defend the truth about the Great Patriotic War, but the draping of the Lenin’s Mausoleum casts doubt on their sincerity.

“The West, including our domestic pro-Western community, is feared that the ideas of a fair rearrangement of life on the globe, which took shape in the foreign and domestic policy of the USSR starting from 1930-ies, can be revived. They are ready to take any measures, including the most shameful and unlawful steps, in order to prevent this,” Demurin believes.

Resolution 1481 that the Council of Europe adopted in 2006 clearly discusses “crimes of the totalitarian communist regime,” which must be condemned, and it says that “moral assessment and condemnation of crimes committed play an important role in the education of young generations,” therefore “the awareness of history is one of the preconditions for avoiding similar crimes in the future.”

To this end, many countries falsify historic facts in an attempt to allege that the USSR was responsible for initiating World War Two and to deface the role of the Red Army in the victory over fascism.
