Lavrov: There are fears that US release terrorists in Syria

17.01.2020, Moscow.

Reportedly, the US-supported Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) release terrorists “for a price”, the acting minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said on January 17 at a press conference on the outcome of the ministry’s work in 2019.

“Disturbing information is coming, and we are double-checked it now, that these Syrian Democratic Forces release bandits for a price, and they begin to spread across the other parts of the Syrian territory,” Lavrov said.

The acting minister added that the Russian side has called its US partners long ago to take measures to prevent terrorists from fleeing from the detention camps.

The Syrian Democratic Forces military alliance was established in 2015 with the US support. The core of the SDF is Kurdish self-defense formations.
