The Ukrainian side violated the ceasefire in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) 24 times over the past day, Donetsk News Agency informed on October 16 citing the statement of the DPR Representative Office in the Joint Center for Ceasefire Control and Coordination.
The following towns and villages were shelled: Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Aleksandrovka, Staromikhaylovka, Mineralmoye, Yasnoye, Spartak, Kominternovo, Sakhanka, the area of Volvo-Centre, the villages near Trudovskaya coal mine. 13 houses were damaged in Staromikhaylovka.
It was specified that the enemy used mortars, grenade launchers, and small arms during their attacks. The Ukrainian armed groups fired a total of 292 rounds of ammunition.
On April 2014, the Ukrainian military launched a military operation against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which declared their independence. On September 5, the trilateral Minsk Agreements signed by the envoys of Russia, Ukraine and of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) went into force. This document stipulated the ceasefire on the territories of the DPR and LPR as one of its main measures. However, the shelling of the Republics does not cease despite the peace agreements.
