The leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, acknowledged that the Ukrainian state must be dismantled, and a new independent Ukraine must instead be created, the Donetsk News Agency reported on October 16.
According Pushilin’s statement, the Ukrainian statehood is ill, and the Ukrainian state “must be liquidated as illegitimate,” because it emerged after external interference, and it is being governed by foreign forces. According to the DPR leader, “the Minsk agreements can only be fulfilled if all of Ukraine’s power structures are dissolved, and its unhealthy statehood is dismantled.”
According to Pushilin, an agreement about the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements can only be reached with an independent Ukraine, which has to be built from scratch. “A new, genuinely independent Ukraine must emerge. This must be done through a free decision by all its territories. And the right of regions not to join the new state must be respected,” Pushilin wrote.
On October 15, Darya Olifer, the press secretary of the Ukrainian representative to Minsk Leonid Kuchma, in summarizing the outcome of the negotiations on her Facebook page, stressed Ukraine’s statement that the political block of the Minsk agreements can only be fulfilled if the LPR and DPR are dissolved.
