US demands all countries keep Russian aircraft out of Venezuela

US State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus called on all countries to close their airspace to Russian aircraft bound for Venezuela, the message was posted on April 19 on her page in Twitter.

Ortagus cited the government of Malta as an example, as it had prohibited Russian aircraft from using its airspace for flights to Venezuela. According to the spokesperson, this is how all countries should act in order to stop the Kremlin’s support for the Maduro regime.

On April 17, while announcing new sanctions against the Central Bank of Venezuela US National Security Advisor John Bolton threatened Russia with severe sanctions in the event that it provides Nicolás Maduro with a military aid.
