The President of the Bolivarian Republic Nicolás Maduro, in his interview to ABC News on February 25, accused the USA of instigating the political crisis in Venezuela and preparing a military intervention.
“Everything that the United States government has done has been doomed to failure,” Maduro said in his interview to an ABC News correspondent. He also said that the official Washington has been instigating the political escalation in Venezuela, and that it is preparing a military invasion of the country. He believes this is preparation for a war in South America.
The President of Venezuela commented US Vice President Michael Pence’s visit to Bogotá. Pence arrived to the Colombian capital city in order to send a message to Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó “We are with you 100 percent” and to announce that the USA would allocate another 56 million dollars for humanitarian aid to Venezuela. U.S. Treasury Department would be imposing “stronger sanctions” on the Maduro regime’s “corrupt financial networks.”
Maduro noted that the recent meeting in Bogotá became “part of that politics to attempt to establish a parallel government in Venezuela.” the U.S. “wants Venezuela’s oil” and is “willing to go to war for that oil.”
The President of the Bolivarian Republic compared the US government to the Ku Klux Klan extremist organization. Answering a question regarding what he would like to tell the president of the United States, he said that Trump should “fix your policy over Venezuela.”
Maduro noted that Venezuela has the right to peaceful existence, and that he is ready for direct dialogue with the US government. According to the Venezuelan leader, a dialogue from a cold war position is not possible in the 21st century. The cold war must remain in the past.
The political crisis in Venezuela began on January 23, 2019. The USA is pursuing a policy of escalating the crisis in the region. While declaring democratic initiatives, Washington is actually unleashing war in Latin America.
