Ukraine completely cuts off water supply to the LPR

According to LuganskInformCenter information agency, Director of Luganskvoda (Lugansk Water Supply) enterprise Aleksandr Avershin reported on May 11 that Ukrainian authorities completely cut off the water supply to the Lugansk People’s Republic (the LPR) since May 5.

“Currently, all the cities and towns of the Republic are supplied solely by the volumes produced within the territory of the Republic; therefore, we experience a deficiency of produced and distributed water of about 30 per cent,” he said. Ukraine explained that the cutoff was caused by repair works and a debt for electric power. However, the LPR envoy at the Minsk talks Vladislav Deynego stated earlier that the Ukrainian side in every possible way avoided accepting LPR’s payments for water supply.

Journalists urge the UN to stop defaming the people of Chechnya

In a letter addressed to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra‘ad al-Hussein, the Journalists’ Union of Chechnya asked to stop the smear campaign based on human rights abuse allegations in the Republic of Chechnya, RIA Novosti news agency reported on May 11.

“We denounce the accusations of alleged cases of illegal actions against citizens with non-traditional sexual orientation in the Republic of Chechnya, calling them absolutely groundless and untrue. We are asking that the abusive smear campaign against the Republic of Chechnya and the Chechen people be stopped, ” reads the letter.

The relatives of the Malaysian aircraft that was destroyed in Ukrainian airspace intend to submit a lawsuit against the Ukrainian administration. Thomas Schansman, the father of one of the victims, stated in an interview to the German RTL channel on May 11, according to the “Komsomolskaya Pravda” online newspaper.
