Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls US relations with Venezuela biased

28.04.2017, Venezuela.

On April 28, Delcy Rodríguez, the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, told journalists about certain predispositions between Venezuela and the United States, “Russia Today” reports.

She noted that this bias concerns primarily democracy and human rights in Venezuela.

Confirming the existence of this bias between Venezuela and the United States, Delcy Rodriguez has always urged the US Secretary of State to have open debates on existing human rights models in both countries. As an example, she compared Venezuela, which has dropped no bombs on the planet, with what was done by the USA to the world.

She stressed that not only American media propagate a prejudiced attitude towards Venezuela, but also other countries which at the same time “deny their own realities”.

On April 26, Nicolás Maduro, the President of Venezuela, gave an order to begin the procedure of withdrawing from the Organization of American States (OAS).

This reaction was a response to OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro’s call to suspend Venezuela’s membership if Venezuela refuse to hold immediate general elections. The Foreign Minister of Venezuela called the OAS a “Ministry of Colonies” and said that this organization is an effective US instrument to subjugate and conquer countries and peoples.

President Donald Trump reacted to Venezuela’s intention to leave the OAS with one phrase, “Venezuela is a mess.”

The OAS was founded in 1948, with its headquarters in Washington D.C. The organization includes 35 states of both American continents. Cuba was excluded from the OAS in 1968.
