Russian-Syrian military police exercises held in Aleppo
The exercises took place directly in the area of eastern Aleppo, where the Syrian army was fighting against Islamists a few weeks before. Police groups practiced the principles and tactics of urban warfare.
Russian military police Battalion commander Akhmet Abdulmutalibov said that the main mistakes of Syrians are “a lack of fear” and “a lack of vigilance in searching and detaining suspects”. Nonetheless, both groups of law enforcement showed to be good results during the exercises.
According to the instructions, police were to capture terrorists – members of the “Islamic State” group (organization banned in Russia), who could be hiding in one of the area’s buildings. Another task was to capture unknown militants armed with automatic weapons.
The last stage of the exercises was at the shooting range, where the Syrian law enforcement showed a result equal to that of their Russian colleagues.
