A nurse of the independent unit Dunai of the Armed Forces of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Ekaterina Panfilova was awarded the status of hero of the Republic and received the Golden Star medal for saving lives of dozens of servicemen on the battlefields. DPR Head Aleksandr Zakharchenko personally awarded her.

“According to the decree of DPR Head, Panfilova Ekaterina is awarded with the status of hero of Donetsk People’s Republic and presented with the medal Golden Star for excellent completion of combat tasks in the combats against the enemy’s army. While such women are on our side, the enemy will not break our spirit,” Zakharchenko said.
According to the DPR Head, around 20 nurses were awarded during the Civil War in Donbass. Defense Minister Vladimir Kononov stressed in his interview with a Donetsk News Agency reporter that Panfilova saved the lives of around 40 soldiers.
