State-owned “Donbassgas” restored gas supply to houses of frontline Veseloye village residents

09.11.2016, DPR.

The state-owned concern “Donbassgas” restored the gas supply to the frontline Veseloye village near former Donetsk Airport on November 8th, 2016. For over 2 years village residents were left without gas supply because of the combats and shellings on the part of the Ukrainian army.

The Head of the state-owned company Sergey Filipov, the representatives of Yasinovataya town administration that supervise the village, and around 100 local residents attended the opening ceremony.

Today we have a very special occasion. On citizens’ request, we constructed a new gas pipeline of 600 meters in length to connect this village to Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) gas network and repaired the village gas network of 3 km in length. I want to stress that before the war the village was supplied with gas via a pipeline laid on the Ukrainian side. This pipeline was destroyed during the active battles, and, during 2 years since that time, the Ukrainian side did not bother to repair it,” Filipov said and lit a gas flare.

The gas service representatives of the state-owned concern instructed the residents on the safety precautions for the gas equipment before establishing the gas supply. A house of Сhernetskie family was the very first one connected to the new gas network. “Today is a happy day for us. Finally, we have a gas supply. It is such a relief to have a gas stove. My husband and I are the elderly, it is not an easy task to bring in coal every time you want to stoke the fire in the furnace,” Lyudmila, a wife, said.

By coincidence, the woman also celebrated her birthday on this very day. Filipov congratulated her and presented her with flowers. She, in turn, treated the employees of “Donbassgas” to pancakes and tea.

In the next 3 days, the gas supply will be provided to another 80 houses.

90% of houses in Veseloye village were damaged and most of the gas and other supply lines were completely destroyed because of the shellings by the Ukrainian military in 2014-2015.
