Kiev junta conceals the fact of detaining 300 DPR civilians – DPR Ombudswoman

29.09.2016, DPR.

Kiev representatives still have not confirmed that approximately 300 citizens of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) are detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), DPR Ombudswoman Darya Morozova stated on September 28th.

I am outraged by the fact that the Ukrainian side manipulates the lists of war prisoners, this is going too far. Kiev representatives do not confirm the fact of detention of 300 of our guys,” the Ombudswoman’s statement received by Donetsk News Agency reads.

According to Morozova, the employees of the Office of the DPR Ombudswoman, without having the freedom of movement in Ukraine and being in Donetsk, found and confirmed the information on more than 40 prisoners of war detained in the prison cells of SBU and Ukrainian pre-trial detention centers. “But somehow the Ukrainian side prefers not to talk about this and does not confirm this officially,” she added.

DPR Ombudswoman repeatedly stated that the Kiev junta conceals the information on the majority of the detained citizens of the Republic. According to the recent information, the Ukrainian side held 949 people in the detention facilities. Among them 313 servicemen, 447 peaceful residents imprisoned on political grounds, and 149 people, who have nothing to do with the war.
