The President of Russia Vladimir Putin ordered to start withdrawing the main forces of Russian Federation from Syria starting from March 15, TASS news agency reports.
“I think that the tasks set before the Defense Ministry are in general accomplished. Which is why I order to start withdrawing the main part of our military group from Syrian Arab Republic,” the head of Russia stated during the meeting with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu.
“At the same time, our servicemen, soldiers and officers, have demonstrated professionalism, teamwork, the ability to organize combat work away from own territory, without having common border with the theater of war,” the President stated.
Vladimir Putin hopes that the start of the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria will become a good stimulus for the negotiations of the political powers of this country.
In turn, the press spokesman of the President Dmitry Peskov claimed that Vladimir Putin discussed and coordinated the decision regarding the start of withdrawal of troops from Syria.
