A high concentration of manpower and military equipment is observed near the demarcation line on the Ukrainian side, which is why the authorities of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) do not rule out that Kiev junta could start hostilities, the Head of DPR Aleksandr Zakharchenko informed RIA Novosti news agency.
“Our intelligence information shows that on the other side (Ukrainian side – Editor) of the demarcation line the forces enough to start again military actions are concentrated. And the key features of these forces are exactly of offensive kind, rather than defensive. Kiev drove a large amount of manpower and military equipment in Donbass. Therefore, we cannot exclude the shift of Ukrainian forces to active military actions,” Zakharchenko said.
Zakharchenko said that DPR is ready for any development of the situation.
“If such an offensive starts, it will not stop on its own. We have to stop them at first and then liberate those DPR territories, which we now consider as occupied,” he said.
In April 2014, the government of Ukraine launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. According to the latest UN information, more than 9 thousand people have become the victims of the conflict. The question of resolving the situation in Donbass is discussing also during the meetings of the Contact Group in Minsk, which, since September 2014, has adopted three documents regulating the steps to de-escalate the conflict, including the armistice.
