14 people were injured and one person died as a result of the shelling of a nine-story apartment building in Alchevsk conducted by the Ukrainian armed units. The mayor of the city Albert Apshev said this to the TASS news agency on August 6.
“14 people were injured. According to the preliminary information, one person died. Four children were injured, one is in intensive care,” the mayor said.
The head of the city added that the firefighters eliminated the fire in the apartment building, which arose as a result of the shelling. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and explosives engineering specialists are also working at the site. Residents of the shelled house will be placed in a social facility.
Apshev noted that about 12 other houses were damaged by the blast wave and shrapnel. In particular, the buildings of three kindergartens and a school were damaged.
The LPR Prosecutor General’s Office started an investigation in connection with the shelling of a residential house in Alchevsk in the LPR by Kiev’s militants. Based on the results of the investigation, a criminal case will be opened under Articles 439 of the LPR Criminal Code (use of prohibited means and methods of warfare) and Article 440 of the LPR Criminal Code (genocide).
